Peacock Feathers – The Number 1 Theme For Weddings in 2010

Saturday, February 27th, 2010
Although, the thought of peacock feathers, peacock blues and peacock greens may not initially seem totally appropriate or indeed appealing when paired with weddings, this is a theme that has been tipped as the hottest trend for 2010. The design and colours featured throughout the peacock feather is beautifully rich and intricate and this can be implemented in any degree from an understated whisper of colour, to the extreme, by incorporating the theme in every aspect of your wedding, creating a dramatic glamorous affair.

Here are a few ideas on how to incorporate peacock feathers into your wedding day theme.

Wedding Invitations: Plain white invitations featuring a peacock feather and finished to perfection with beautiful satin blue or green ribbon is all you need to create an impact and begin the theme to your whole wedding. Your guests will know immediately that they are going to be attending an amazingly stylish wedding.

Bridesmaid Dresses: Here is where you could combine two hot trends for 2010 in one. 2010 is going to see a big increase in popularity in mix-matched bridesmaid dresses and this works wonders with the Peacock theme. Dress your bridesmaids in the variety of complimentary colours found in the peacock feather with bold, royal blues, teals and greens. The look and style from doing this is warm, chic and very sensational.

Hair Fascinators: Carrie Bradshaw in the Sex in the City movie took feathers to the extreme for her wedding (or first wedding) to Mr Big. Not all fascinators incorporating feathers need to be this big. Create a sophisticated, breath-taking piece by adding a single peacock feather to your fascinator.

Bouquets, Corsages and Bridal Party Flowers: Feathers as a whole are a gorgeous new accent to flowers. Don’t let the feathers scare you; add a few through your bouquets to match your theme. To ensure you create the beautiful bouquet you are looking for, try to match the flower colours to the contrasting colours found in a peacock feather and balance this with sharp white or ecru.

Centrepieces and Table Décor: Sage green and teal blue linens will instantly produce a sensationally rich vintage feel. Consider having gold chiavari chairs, or white chair covers with complimentary sashes or bows around the back of each chair. Centerpieces usually match the bridal party bouquets. Take the flowers used in your bouquet and include some long, tall individual peacock feathers in the vase and you have yourself a centerpiece as pretty as a peacock. Not only that, but you can also have small peacock feathers tucked into your napkins to finish your tables off beautifully.

Wedding Cake: Yes, even your wedding cake can take part in your wonderful theme. Although you may not want colour incorporated into your wedding cake, iced white feathers can provide breath-taking flair. Try a dotted line pattern when icing the feather shapes onto the main cake to keep it elegant and refined, and perhaps introduce a slight shimmer of gold or silver leaf. This will undoubtedly create a stunning wedding cake that ties in with your whole day.

As with any wedding theme, the key is in the details. Small touches, create big impacts. The Peacock theme is truly a theme that is distinctive and undoubtedly stunning. Take time over the details and try to incorporate the colours into the main aspects of your day. You will most definitely create a wedding less ordinary and a wedding that will have lasting memories for your wedding guests. This is no ordinary day, this is your wedding, your wedding less ordinary.

Four Winter Wedding Themes

Thursday, February 25th, 2010
During the cold days of winter, many beautiful wedding themes are all around us. If you are planning to get married during the winter time, there are a number of different options available to you. Choosing the right winter wedding theme is actually quite easy once you think about what you want your wedding to be like. Winter offers a host of wedding ideas, and this article will give you several of them to make a wonderful winter wedding a reality.

The Snowflake Theme – This is a wonderful theme of winter, and your wedding could be an outstanding example of white. Snow, and white in general, is a natural wedding theme by itself. It is quite easy to find excellent wedding decorations and themed flower arrangements around this great winter theme. Imagine an ocean of white, with snowflakes floating down from above. As a wedding theme, this opens up the floodgates of creativity, and can be taken in a number of directions with your wedding foods and wedding cakes.

The Christmas Wedding – Christmas is a very popular time to celebrate weddings and with good reason. The ready-made holiday decorations at your disposal are huge, and the various sub-themes are varied. Also, you can sometimes save time with your wedding decorations, as churches and assembly halls will often already be decorated for the holidays. If you want to create a wonderful Christmas wedding, you will need to make sure to get all of the Christmas decorations from unique sources. Traditional Christmas decorations do work, but unique is where the true Christmas themed wedding works the best. Find some awesome Christmas Wedding Theme Decorations here.

Silver and Gold Themed Wedding – This is my personal favorite wedding favor and it is due to the incredible amount of sparkle that it produces. If you like a winter themed wedding that will sparkle, then this is the theme for you. Gold trim on silver creates a gorgeous backdrop for any wedding arrangements. This particular theme does not have to be a Christmas theme either. It can just be set up as a simple color scheme instead. That flexibility is very convenient.

Green and Red Winter Wedding Theme – This is very much like the Christmas theme mentioned above, except that it focuses on the colors rather than the season. Many people like the idea of the colors but not of the theme of Christmas as a whole. This theme works wonders with color, and can truly be spectacular for your wedding theme. Basing a wedding around specific colors can lead to a very clean and structured wedding preparation. This is an excellent choice for those that love the Christmas spirit but not particularly all the bells and so forth.

Regardless of the wedding theme that you choose for your winter wedding, it is sure to be a challenge to find the proper things to build it. If you need a one stop shop to get all of your wedding favors, party favors, wedding decorations, and so forth, I have found a wonderful resource to use.

Wonderful Winter Theme Weddings

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010
Who says that the wedding of your dreams requires a sleeveless dress and air-conditioning? A beautiful winter wedding can be breath-taking, cozy, and come with a lot of financial benefits! What are you waiting for? Start planning your wonderful winter-themed wedding!

When selecting decorations, choose décor that is ‘warm’ and inviting for your guests. Colors play a very important role in a winter wedding. In order to pull off a successful wedding with a comfortable appeal, steer clear of bright colors that are ‘summery.’ Try warm tones.

Colors like purple, terra-cotta, forest-green, ruby, and navy look excellent with the glow of candlelight. They can add a special ambiance and warmth to any reception site. Winter weddings provide the perfect opportunity to have an ‘elegant’ wedding with such rich colors.

Accessories are just as important as color if you’ve selected ‘winter’ as your wedding theme. Centerpieces can come in the form of frosted glass bowls filled with cinnamon scented pine-cones. Glittery snow-flakes can be hung from the ceiling. Holly-branches with berries can also add a lavish touch to your decorations.

Instead of ‘summery’ plants, poinsettias, roses, lilies and red ribbons can cover the place of reception. Unfortunately, sprint/summer bouquets may not be readily available from your local florist, so any other flowers (other than those mentioned) can be costly during the winter months.

Still looking for a place to hold your wonderful winter themed wedding? How about a bread and breakfast, or a quaint little cottage? Imagine your guests warming themselves in front of a toasty fire, smiling with a mug of hot chocolate in hand. A breath-taking view of a frozen pond and small friendly wildlife will add just the right touch of relaxation. While snow-covered landscapes may not sound appealing to everyone– think of how fun a sleigh ride and an afternoon of skiing can be.

Worried about what wedding favors to give as a token from your winter themed wedding? Spiced teas, scented candles, personalized mugs, Christmas ornaments with the wedding date imprinted upon them, personalized snow globes with a photograph inside, there are so many items to choose from!

Instead of having a ordinary catered meal, try creating a unique dinner menu. As everyone from your family to share a traditional family recipe, submit some of these recipes to your caterer and have a wonderful meal that everyone will enjoy! The idea is let everyone have some (possibly, well–needed) R&R as they celebrate your festivities.

Tips On Wonderful Baby Shower Cakes that Surprise Your Guests

Sunday, February 21st, 2010
How can you have a complete baby shower without baby shower cakes?

A baby cake is more than a moist, yummy confection to eat. You can use it as a wonderful baby shower centerpiece to make a special party setting that every guest can share and enjoy.

Also turn the baby shower cake baking into a funny baby shower game if you want to make a special and memorable moment that the mom-to-be can cherish for a long time.

What if you’re looking for something that can do triple duties for your baby shower? A diaper cake decorated with all kinds of baby items is your best choice – it’s not edible!

Keep the guidelines below in your mind. You’ll find that have the bakery design cakes for you is just a snap.

1. Set your party theme and budget, it will help you focus on what you really need.

2. Check out 4 or 5 bakeries (at least). Look at their cake pictures and ask for a sample-taste.

3. Make a decision on the cake that most fits your need. Tell the baker how many people will attend your party so they don’t make the wrong size. (A standard round cake serves approximately eight to ten people. An 11 x 9 x 2 inch sheet cake serves up to fifteen people.)

4. Tell the baker which day and what time the shower will start. ( you should order the cake a minimum of one week in advance of the shower.

5. Pay a 50 percent deposit. Ask the bakery to deliver the cake directly to your shower location (again, don’t forget to tell them the date and time!).

Instead of the traditional baby cakes, try baking a batch of baby shower cupcakes which guests can frost and decorate.

You can even try the idea of an Autograph Cake – it’s a sheet cake only have a standard “Congratulations!” inscription on it and the rest are left plain. Guests were asked to sign their names on the cake when they arrive.

And imagine a cake with the mommy’s photo or a classic pooh poster on it! The only thing you need to do is to choose one photo of the mom-to-be or any graphics related to your shower theme. The bakery will blow up the photo and decorate around it for you – it looks great and inexpensive!

No matter what you’re looking for, put your heart and energy into the cake planning, the ideas are endless.

Planning a Baby Shower? 3 Tips For Throwing a Wonderful Baby Shower

Friday, February 19th, 2010
There are 3 things that you can do to make sure you are planning a cool baby shower that everyone will remember as being a good time. These might seem like small things to do but they definitely will help make it easier as well as help you save money.

BEGIN PLANNING EARLY

While this may sound like a no brainer it is hard to imagine how many people procrastinate and put things off till tomorrow what they can do today. By planning early you will:

Save Money Possibly Find those hard to find items Have a well themed shower that everyone will remember

CHOOSE AN APPROPRIATE THEME

There are so many ideas out there for baby shower themes. In some cases it might be easy to pick a theme such as if the parents to be tell you what they would like, or if they have a certain thing they enjoy such as golfing, or another obvious choice. Another thing that can either help or hurt the theme choice is whether or not the parents are going to find out what the sex of the baby is. If they are, then there are definitely more opportunities for specific theme ideas geared for a baby boy or baby girl baby shower. Pinks and blues are almost expected color choices and the themes can be more gender related such as pink princesses or bouncing baby boy baby shower themes.

INVITATIONS SHOULD BE INVITING

How many of us have been invited to a baby shower and read the invitation and thought in the back of our heads “OH NO!” and not wanted to attend?

Probably more than a few of us.

The invitations can set the whole mood for the shower. It is the first time to advise people of not only the date and time, or possibly the sex but also what the theme is going to be as well as what the parents to be need for their new arrival and where they are registered.  This will make sure that the new baby has a good head start on things and that mom and dad can spend their time off with the new baby and not out running around for items they need for the baby.

Setting a Wonderful Family Thanksgiving Table

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010
The scene is set, your family has been invited, the children are getting excited and possibly annoying, but you still have not figured out a way of setting a wonderful Thanksgiving table.

You want a table that is different from last year, it needs that wow factor.

You have already prepared the Thanksgiving dinner menu. Your turkey is in the oven and the cornbread dressing is almost ready to bake.

However, you cannot put it off any longer, it is finally time to set the dinner table. In order to help you in this important task here are some tips for setting a wonderful family Thanksgiving table.

Our first tip is to just keep it simple. Why stress yourself out during the holiday, okay so this is a silly statement you will always do that whatever year. But do not try to overload your dinner table with your best crystalware, china, or fancy cloth napkins. If children are involved then this can only end in tears.

This is a happy time of year and you need to avoid upsetting yourself so why not:

Buy heavy-duty disposable dinner plates;
Plastic silverware
Cups and paper napkins

You will find that supermarkets offer holiday disposables at very affordable prices.

This gives you two benefits, you will be able to purchase nice dinnerware quite inexpensively and you will save yourself a lot of washing up, which gives you more time to spend with your family instead of being tied to the kitchen.

Spice up your centerpieces in a fun and novel way, your children can really help here, if fact why not hold a competition for them to come up with one or more home made centrepeices?

Instead of the usual fancy floral centrepieces, get creative and use things like your dinner rolls to create a mountain. Or build a faux fountain, using cake stands and stacking your side dishes in an artful way in the center of your table.

Alternatively why not try going back in time and making up an old fashioned theme for your Thanksgiving celebrations?

You could try laying mismatched table cloths or table runners on your table together with using oil lanterns as your centrepiece.

Try setting the table with a combination of different dinnerware articles. Set small wooden buckets on the table to hold silverware and napkins. In fact use anything that doesn’t match to create an old-time feeling for your Thanksgiving dinner.

If you are worried that your novel arrangement for your table will not work, then carry out a rehearsal the week before so you can judge the best placement of items etc.

Finally the real minimalist approach – don’t set the table at all! – The easiest or laziest approach perhaps is to not put any dinnerware on the table at all. Try out a buffet style approach where you place all the dishes on your bar or serving cart, with the plates and silverware at the beginning. The idea is to let everyone serve themselves and sit where they choose. This is really good for creating an informal atmosphere with no pressure.

But the best piece of advice we can give is to remind you that this is a family get-together.

Take your time to relax and enjoy the food and the company of your family. Our approach of setting a wonderful Thanksgiving table by taking the simple route should ensure you have a fun time which is what it is all about.

Which of These Fall Wedding Themes Appeals to You?

Monday, February 15th, 2010
Autumn is a very popular time to plan a fall wedding with all of nature’s beauty bursting into vibrant colors. However, not all fall wedding themes are the same. Sure you can use the colors of the turning leaves as your theme setting, but why not take it further and plan your wedding around a favorite fall icon? Here are a few ideas to use:

Delicious Apples Wedding Theme

Fall is the season of apple picking. Crisp, juicy and refreshing, biting into a just-picked apple is heaven. Think about ways that you can add apples to your wedding theme. For example, you can have each guest table feature a different type of apple (Macintosh, Granny Smith, etc.) with centerpieces that highlight this wonderful fruit. Decorations could consist of balloon bouquets in the color(s) of your favorite apples. Present favors such as small apple tarts, a shiny red apple, mini apple candles or a silver apple place card holder. Serve apple cider, apple pies, applesauce and other such yummy treats.

Pretty Pumpkins Wedding Theme

Pumpkins are definitely a fall thing. For Halloween and Thanksgiving, pumpkins are featured in all sorts of ways and these two holidays present a great assortment of decorating ideas that you can use. Even small gourds work well for decorations and centerpieces. One unique idea is to hollow out a small gourd or miniature pumpkin and place votive candles inside to light up a buffet table or your gift table. A small box of pumpkin cookies, a jar of pumpkin butter, or pumpkin shaped chocolates are ideal favor ideas. Use decorations with various hues of orange and yellow that are accented with chocolate brown or dark green for an impressive color combination.

Grapes, Wine and Vineyard Themes

Colors and items related to grapes, wine and vineyards are what to focus on in this wedding theme. Grapes come in colors of green, red, purple, black… even white. They are a wonderful accent when incorporated into fruit displays and centerpieces. Wine stoppers, wine glass charms and wine goblet place card holders are favorite favors to present to guests. Be sure to use vines and greenery in your decor.

These are just three of the fall themes that you may want to consider, however that’s not all of them. Other options for an autumn theme wedding include:

Thanksgiving
Halloween
Harvest Moon
Fall Leaves
Perfect Pears
Colorful Indian Corn

Use these ideas to help you plan the color scheme, decorations and favors for your upcoming marriage. Nature abounds with spectacular items that lend themselves to being used in a variety of ways… including your fall wedding.

Wonderful Baby Shower Ideas That Will Get You Rhyming

Saturday, February 13th, 2010
Everyone knows that some of the most wonderful themes for baby showers are usually nursery rhyme or story book themed parties. From ‘Hey Diddle Diddle’ to ‘Hickory Dickory Dock’, nursery rhymes have been with us from the very beginning of our lives and are likely to outlive us in some form or another. And what better way is there to celebrate the coming of new life into the world than with a nursery rhyme themed party?

But what does it take to make a really good nursery rhyme themed party? Of course the first thing you got to have down is the invitation. So you’ve drawn the timeless nursery rhyme characters like Mother Goose, Humpty Dumpty or Jack and Jill but don’t know how to proceed after that? Write an invitation message that is sure to tickle people’s fancies. Here is an example:

‘Once upon a time, in a far away kingdom called Hawthorne Heights in the lands of California, there lived a lady named Anna Maria Johnson. Now this queen lived in the castle of #23 Chestnut Drive. One day, a dashing young knight named Philip Seymour came to rescue her from the boredom of her life and made her the happiest lady in the kingdom. Now we ladies of the court invite you to witness the fruit of their union, the heiress to the Seymour name, little Liza Angela. Come, bear gifts and see the fairest little babe in the land come into our world!’

And what should you have for food? You should definitely have food that’s perfect for the theme. Need ideas? Why not go for the immortal gingerbread men! Want some healthy options? Maybe a bean salad or an egg dish, inspired by Jack and the Beanstalk and Humpty Dumpty respectively, will do a wonderful job.

Perfect Banquet Themes to Coordinate Your Event

Thursday, February 11th, 2010
Whether it is a prom, wedding reception, sports celebration, retirement or work related event you’ll find there’s always a reason for putting on a banquet. If you are the planner, then you will be working very hard to create a special night no matter what the occasion. Bringing everything together, food, decorations, presentations, with a theme is a great way to make everything work nicely in concert toward a shared goal.

There is a lot of creativity that can be put into the evening even if you are limited because of the nature of the event. The seasons can give you some inspiration for the décor and how to create the mood for the evening. While Christmas and winter will be foremost on your mind in December, a banquet in June may have you leaning toward a beach or vacation type of imagery and feel.

It is often a good idea to pull a few people together to form a committee to brainstorm ideas and find a theme that fits the banquet’s purpose and sets the right mood. If it is a prom or family type event you are almost unlimited in the variety of themes available to you. If it is a wedding reception or annual company Christmas party your possibilities may be narrower but you can create your theme around a color scheme or concept related to the company or couple to inspire creative ideas in the committee.

Prom banquets are frequently based on a popular song or current movie. Banquet themes such as Hollywood, silver screen, Arabian nights, Paris, Egyptian, Irish, Black Tie, Casino or Carnival are very popular. One of the most common banquets comes at the end of a kid’s sporting season. Celebrate a successful year with a sports related theme and food that kids love to eat such as pizza, burgers, soda, ice cream and cake. Acknowledge the hard work all season with awards or trophies and don’t forget the coaches! Most wedding receptions maintain an elegant and romantic banquet theme. Keep the individual taste of the couple and wedding party in mind when planning this one.

Surrounding yourself with a team of diverse talent is another positive of forming a committee. The practical folks will keep in mind what is allowable from budget perspective while the creative can dream up wonderful and magical theme ideas. Work to find a balance and you will arrive at a theme that is both fun and exciting but financially realistic as well.

Once you have settled on a theme it’s time to roll up your sleeves and delegate responsibilities to your committee members. Create a checklist and systematically go through it, such as organizing the guest list, picking and paying for the facility, and the caterer. Assign someone to coordinate the music or entertainment. Get a group together to assemble and place the decorations and lighting. When everyone works well together the end result will be a delightful banquet that will always be remembered by all of your guests.

Baby Shower Themes – For Party Success Then You Have To Impress

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010
Welcoming a new edition to the family is a wonderful and joyous moment.

An even more exciting time lies ahead with the planning of a unique baby shower for the new arrival. Preparing for a baby shower can be a fun and exciting experience for all involved. You can plan for the event to be grand or simple but the most important issue is to make the occasion a very memorable one. This can be done by choosing the right theme and by doing this you can rest assured that the guests will leave the baby shower party mentally maimed with fond memories.

You have an abundance of options to select from. Ideas/themes can be humorous or on a serious level the preference is yours for the baby shower.
Baby Showers are always a success and are sure to impress with careful planning, therefore it is important to finalize your decision on the theme so that you can prepare to claim the effect you want portrayed at the baby shower party

Spice up the baby party theme with colour, we all know blue for boys pink for girls but once again this is you and your babys day so you choose. For the venue decorate the room with coloured balloons, ribbons, big bows little bows or hang down streamers whatever. If the sex of the baby is unknown at the time of the gathering keep to neutral colours such as lemon white peach.
A baby bottle theme is very poplar at baby showers where the baby bottle stands proud as a centrepiece. Fun can be added to your party by using the bottles as cups for the guests.

Cuddly toys like teddies are cute and make perfect decorative items. Try placing the teddy among other cuties. If the baby shower party is to be cost effective then why not ask friends and family for cuddly toys to use instead of buying. Make sure that the borrowed pieces are in a presentable condition for the day

Diaper or nappy themes go down well at baby showers. Let your guests know in advance of your particular theme, this can be done by adding this info onto the invitations giving the guest some hindsight behind what gift to give, it is a good chance it will be diapers.(You can never have to many)

The forever favourite is a nursery rhyme theme.
Party themes based on nursery rhyme characters like humpty dumpty. Little Bo peep or Bambi are just a few to mention

Double trouble twins, not to worry things do not need to be doubled or repeated twice. A superb theme for this occasion is Noah and the ark for pregnant women expecting twins; don’t forget to let your guest know that they are coming to this baby shower to celebrate two bundles of joy. Fingers crossed two prezzies into the bargain

Baby Showers is a celebration which fills the air with joy so therefore we need a happy atmosphere. If your budget is tighter than you thought then ask the guests to come in brightly coloured costumes this will surely spruce and spice up the occasion. Who needs ribbons and balloons if the company is good?
